New Delhi: Private airlines have carried 3,267 tones of cargo till 9th April after the lockdown in the country. Spicejet flew 241 cargo flights covering 3,29, 886 kilometers carrying 1,993 tons of cargo. Out of these 241 flights, 175 were domestic cargo flights carrying 1401 tons. Blue Dart flew 82 domestic cargo flights covering 79,916 kilometers carrying 1,270 tons of cargo. Indigo flew 15 cargo flights covering 12,206 Kilometers carrying 4.37 tons of cargo. These carriers are operating flight on commercial basis.
On 9 April 2020, Air India operated flight to bring 21.77 tons of medical equipment from Shanghai, China. The national carrier will operate dedicated scheduled cargo flights to various countries for bringing medical equipment, the government said in a statement.
Another 180 flights have been operated under Lifeline UDAN during the current lockdown in the country out of which 114 flights were operated by Air India and Alliance Air. Another 58 flights were conducted by IAF till 9th April.
State run Pawan Hans Ltd flew five cargo flights up till 8th April 2020. They carried 1.07 tons of medical supplies to Agartala, Guwahati, Srinagar, Aurangabad, Kishwar, Navapachi, Jammu and Nagpur. These flights covered 3,561 kilometres.
