Another 2.31 Lakh Houses Approved Under PMAY Scheme

New Delhi: Government has approved construction of 2.31 lakh houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban). The total number of houses sanctioned as part of the scheme now stands at 93 lakh.

The total investment in these 2.31 lakh houses will be Rs 7,322 crore and the central assistance in these would be of Rs 3,473 crore, the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry said in a statement. 

Out of the 2,31 lakh homes approved by the ministry yesterday, 1,24,624 houses are in Andhra Pradesh (AP), 52,446 houses are in Uttar Pradesh (UP), 18,362 houses are in Madhya Pradesh (MP), 15,049 houses are in Bihar, 3,238 houses are in Nagaland, 1,811 houses are in Puduchery and 16,002 houses are in Assam.

UP and AP have now achieved almost 100 percent of their urban housing demand. The demand in UP was of 15 lakh homes and in AP was of 13.78 lakh homes, according to the ministry. 

UP has cumulative sanction for about 14.50 lakh homes so far. It is now numbr one state in both overall sanctioning of the homes as well as homes sanctioned under Beneficiary Led Construction Scheme that is right now 12.56 lakh homes. UP is also number one among northern Indian states for Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme which is a interest subvention component of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) scheme.
