New Delhi: You may be thinking that you are buying a property in a project that is RERA registered since the builder has provided RERA registration number for it but you need to go beyond the documents given by the developer. Builders are providing fake RERA registration numbers by fudging documents and at least 43 such developers have been identified by UPRERA in Lucknow alone.
According to a news report by Times Group, UPRERA received 17 complaints from various quarters that the builders were providing fake RERA registration numbers for their projects and duping the home buyers. These builders have been selling projects located at prominent areas of Lucknow.
Abrar Ahmed, Secretary, UPRERA, has been quoted in the new report saying 43 builders have been found having fake RERA registration numbers that they were printing in their publicity material and on their websites. FIRs will be lodged against them soon, he said.
Any developer who registers his project with the RERA authorities has to give timely updates to the authorities on the construction status and maintain whole of other norms. There is a fair degree of scrutiny by the authorities of such projects. To avoid any norms and scrutiny, builders have now started funding documents and providing fictitious RERA registration numbers to the buyers to sell their properties.
