New Delhi: Providing further relief to the real estate sector, the Credit Link Subsidy Scheme (CLSS) for affordable housing has been extended by one year till 31 March 2021 by the government. The move that will spur purchase of affprdbale homes across the country. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today announced the second set of relief measures to support economy.
In her announcements, she said that for the stratum country’s middle-class with annual income of Rs 6-18 lakh, the CLSS will be extended till 31 March 2021. The scheme was launched in 2017 by the government. It has benefitted about 3.3 lakh home buyers so far.
The will give boost to the home buying process. The real estate fraternity has welcomed the decision of the Finance Minster. “The extension of the CLSS will prompt many of the fence sitters to buy homes at the earliest,” said Dhruv Agarwala, Group CEO, Housing.com, Proptiger.com and Makaan.com.
“The extension will further aid many more families to avail housing under this scheme. As a ripple effect of increased demand for affordable housing, it will positively push demand for raw materials like cement, steel, etc,” said Anuj Puri, Chairman, ANAROCK Property Consultants.
