New Delhi: The Delhi-Dehradun expressway has been given a go-ahead by the central government which will significantly cut down the travel time between the two cities to about two and a half hours.
The expressway will be 180 kilometers in length. The current distance between the two cities is 250 kilometers. The centre has given in-principle nod to the project, according to an official statement.
As part of the project, there will be a construction of an elevated road on the route. There will also be a new tunnel constructed at Mohand near Dehradun.
Since a part of the expressway falls under the forest zone of Uttar Pradesh (UP), there will be a clearance sought from the forest and wildlife department of UP.
