Delhi Govt launches website for registration of construction workers

New Delhi: Delhi government has come up with a portal where the construction workers can register themselves with the government. The move will help lakhs of workers which are currently stranded in the Capital amid the Covid19 led lockdown.

Currently, there are about 40,000 construction workers who are registered with the Construction Workers’ Welfare Board that falls under the Delhi Government. The workers will get about Rs 5,000 per month till the lockdown ends or other benefits, as decided by the government from time to time.

The portal has been launched by Delhi Developemnt Minister Gopal Rai. The Construction Workers’ Welfare Board comes under Rai. He said that there are several un registered labouerrs in the Capital city and they needed some facility to register themselves.

There will also be a system for renewing the registration.

“We have launched the website for the construction workers which can register and then renew their registration as and when required,” said Rai.

The Delhi government had given away Rs 5,000 per labour last month due to the difficulties faced by them in the wake of the lockdown and complete halt in construction activities. Even in the current week, the government had announced Rs 5,000 financial help again to each of the labourers.
