New Delhi: A one-time fiscal assistance of Rs 2,000 each to construction workers would be given in Maharashtra.

The Maharashtra government announced this saying that the money will be given through direct benefit transfer. About 12 lakh workers are likely to get benefited from the decision.

The order has been issued by the Maharashtra Government in this regard to Maharashtra Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.

Earlier this week, the state government allowed about 1 lakh migrant workers of the sugarcane industry to return to their respective villages.

“Construction workers do not get employment every day. Therefore, they have to face many obstacles to meet the basic needs of daily life….Rs 2,000 was decided to deposit the account in a DBT manner,” said Dilip Walse Patil, Maharashtra cabinet minister for labour, and excise.
