New Delhi: The government has invited bids for development of six underserved and another 24 unserved airports or airstrips in the North-East states of India to improve regional air connectivity.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation has also recognized one Water Aerodrome location in the region that is up for bidding. The move is likely to help tourism and also boost economic activity in the region.
The bids have been invited under the UDAN 4.0 scheme in which the government is providing additional Viability Gap Funding (VGF) of about 25 percent to the airlines, according to a statement by Ministry of Civil Aviation.
Airports that are available for bidding in the latest round of bidding are:
Arunachal Pradesh – Alinya, Along, Daparizo, Mechuka, Tuting, Vijaynagar, Walong, Yinghiong, Ziro
Assam –Chabua, Darrang, Dinjan, Ledo, Misa Mari, Nazira, Sadiya, Sorbhog, Sukerating (Dum Duma)
Meghalaya –Dwara, Shella, Tura
Tripura -Kailashahar, Kamalpur, Khowai

Arunachal Pradesh –Passighat&Tezu
Assam – Jorhat, Rupsi, Tezpur
Meghalaya –Shillong
Water Aerodrome that is up for bidding is Umrangso Reservoir in Assam.
