New Delhi: The government has invited bids for 3 unserved airports in Andmanan and Nicobar islands and one underserved airport in Lakshadweep under the latest round of its regional air connectivity scheme.
The fourth leg of bidding under the UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) scheme has commenced on December 3. The scheme seeks to connect unserved and underserved airports and airstrips in the country.
The ministry of Civil Aviation has also recognized four water aerodromes in Andaman & Nicobar and 2 in Lakshadweep that are up for bidding. The move will boost tourism in these places. It will also transform the economic and financial situation of the region, it said in a statement.
