New Delhi: The government is planning to give land for 2,000 fuel stations on the Delhi-Mumbai expressway. While speaking on in an event organized by industry body FICCI in the Cpaotal today, Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways and MSME said that priority would be given to LNG gas stations on the expressway.
“LNG is the fuel for future and the cost economics compared with diesel works to a saving of at least 50-60 percent,” he said.
As for the opportunities in the manufacturing sector, especially for medium and small enterprises, the broad gauge metro that has been approved by the Indian Railways presents a good chance for private players to invest in rolling stocks for connecting big cities with small cities.
“With less than Rs 5 crore per kilometer cost, you can make this broad gauge metro everywhere in India using the existing network of broad gauge. We can at least start 500-600 projects in the country,” Gadkari said.
He said that the government also plans to convert the proposed 22 expressways into electric highways. Seven of the 22 proposed expressways are under construction.
