New Delhi: The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways has set a target of constructing highways worth Rs 15 lakh crore in the coming two years. Road Transport and MSME Minister Nitin Gadkari today said that the ministry is also working towards clearing arbitration cases with road concessionaires.
While speaking in a video conference with SIAM members, Gadkari said that he has asked officials of the ministry to give final shape to the auto scrapping policy soon. The policy will pave the way for in cost reduction.
The minister also suggested exploring cheaper credit route like foreign capital for greater liquidity in the vehicle manufacturing sector.
He also said that the industry must look at innovation, technology and even research skill to be more competitive globally.
During the conference, the SIAM members expressed their concerns and issues regarding the various problems faced by industry in the wake of corona virus pandemic. They requested government to support the industry to keep it afloat.
As regards the BS4 vehicles, the minister said that the government is restricted by the Supreme Court verdict on the matter. However, he said that he can get the entire matter examined afresh.
Gadkari also assured the members of all possible help from the for the sector.
