DELHI, India, August 19, 2024 – Honeywell (NASDAQ: HON) has unveiled its latest innovation, INNCOM Direct, an energy management system specifically designed for mid-market hotels. This new offering, which utilizes automation to improve HVAC efficiency, represents Honeywell’s ongoing commitment to automation and energy transition, addressing the growing demand for sustainable solutions in the hospitality sector.
As part of its strategic alignment with key global megatrends, Honeywell is broadening its focus beyond luxury hotels, making advanced energy management technology accessible to mid-market properties, which often struggle with high operational costs.
INNCOM Direct is a cloud-based system that autonomously adjusts room temperatures based on occupancy, offering hotel operators greater control over energy consumption without sacrificing guest comfort.
“With rising utility costs, mid-market hotels needed more options for energy management,” said Billal Hammoud, president and CEO of Honeywell Building Automation. “INNCOM Direct fills that gap, offering an affordable solution that improves energy efficiency in both occupied and unoccupied rooms. It’s part of our broader strategy to help businesses transition to more sustainable operations.”
Halifax Hospitality, one of the early adopters, implemented INNCOM Direct at their 159-room Spring Hill, Tennessee property. The company had been seeking innovative ways to manage the increasing energy costs associated with larger hotel properties, particularly HVAC systems, which account for up to 25% of the power bill. “The system allows us to better manage energy usage in both guest rooms and common areas, especially when spaces are unoccupied,” said Hitesh Patel, vice president of Halifax Hospitality. “INNCOM Direct delivers the cost savings we need while aligning with our sustainability goals.”
INNCOM Direct’s technology uses a proprietary detection system that autonomously adjusts heating and cooling settings when rooms are vacant. This approach not only cuts energy usage but also supports a more eco-friendly operational model for hotels aiming to reduce their carbon footprint.
Honeywell’s move into the mid-market segment highlights the growing emphasis on sustainability in the hotel industry. With more than 30% of U.S. hotel rooms vacant at any given time, solutions like INNCOM Direct have the potential to significantly lower energy costs while advancing the industry’s shift toward carbon-conscious practices.
