Pune has emerged a major city for university level education and serves a huge of students in the country.

The city has a student base of about 3 lakh students and the city attracts students from all parts of the country.

 

There are number of national players in Purpose-Built Student Accommodation (PBSA) category and the city is getting many new players almost every month. Then there are local players also. 

There is Kohinoor Group which has invested Rs 100 crore in the student housing franchise brand Youthville. It srtaed its operations with just 150 beds in the city and is eyeing more than 40,000 beds by 2021. 

Then there is another local operator- The Tribe which has also expanded fast.

The total number of students from foreign countries enrolled in Indian colleges and universities is presently 47,427, up 36 percent since 2012-13.

In the year 2018-19, number of student enrolments in India increased to over 37 million but hostel intake of a just 6.5 million.
