How is Bengaluru Co-living Market Looking Like Now

Bengaluru has been the cradle of co-living real estate segment in the India. There are a lot of industries like IT/Tes and education which is turbocharging the real estate market in Bengaluru.

As per HRD Ministry’s survey on higher education in 2018-19, the Urban District of Bengaluru tops the number of universities and colleges with 880. Bengaluru gets thousands of local, outstation and foreign students every year and is home to some of the best colleges in India. 

With around 10,000 foreign students, the state of Karnataka has had the highest number of students coming from overseas. 

There are some private institutions like M S Ramaiah that have dedicated student living options to cater to the huge demand for student housing in Bengaluru. Even Manipal Education and Medical Group had started a chain of branded youth hostels with over 10,000 beds through the independent brand Yoho. 

Looking at the huge demand for student housing segment, Wall Street giant Goldman Sachs had acquired 75 percent in Yoho for Rs 350 crore, helping the company to grow its footprint and add another 20,000 rooms. Then there are large national operators Stanza Living that are also investing in the city and have plans to provide 5,000 beds to cater to the city’s growing student population.
