New Delhi: About 30 consultancy firms participated an online pre-bid meeting for the tender floated for choosing a firm for the redevelopment of New Delhi railway station.
The consultancies that participated I the meeting including some of the biggest names in the industry like Hafeez Contractor, Italferr of Australia, Tata Consulting, Louis Berger and CP Kukreja.
The meeting was conducted online by Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) due to the ongoing lockdown in the country.
The whole station area will be developed over an area of about 8 million square feet. The commercial spaces would be developed over an area of 2.5 million square feet out of this 8 million square feet.
In the month of March, RLDA had floated the request for proposal for the bids for choosing the consultancy firm. The chosen firm will have to provide feasibility study, detailed master planning, urban designing, engineering and preparation of detailed project report (DPR) for re-development of New Delhi railway station.
The tender as of now is scheduled to be awarded by first week of June.
RLDA is expecting to generate investments of Rs 7,000 crore for the purpose. About Rs 5,000 crore would be spent on redevelopment of the station and associated construction. The tender is expected to awarded by first week of June.
After the redevelopment, stations adjoining area Connaught Place will get 2.5 million square feet or more of new commercial space.
The master plan will specify things like land use, type of architecture, urban design and various parameters for development of the New Delhi. The railway colonies nearby the station too will be part of the Master Plan.
