New Delhi: Mumbai has emerged as the first choice in the country for women prospective buyers of property while Delhi is the second preference for them.
As many as 26 percent women respondents to a survey conducted by ANAROCK and LIC Housing Finance said Mumbai would be their first choice. Delhi stood second at 22 percent.
Women are more brand conscious than their male counterparts. As many as 60 percent women would buy properties of branded developers while were equally divided at 50:50 for branded and unbranded developers.
Around three percent women prospective home buyers would buy property for investment. Another 87 percent said they would buy property for end use.
Rs 45-90 lakh is the most preferred budget range for prospective women buyers.
About half of the prospective women buyers said they would prefer spacious 2 BHK apartments in the 800-1,200 square feet bracket.
About 47 percent women property seekers are in age bracket of 25-35 years and around 41 percent in 35-45 years age group.
“The growing dominance of women homebuyers has been an ongoing phenomenon over the last few years, especially in urban centres. Now, their preferences are also distinctly shaping newer trends. While ‘proximity to workplace’ was the top priority for both male and female survey participants looking to buy homes, 35% of the polled women consider suitable amenities within a housing project the second-most important factor. For men, the second-most important factor was the largest size they can afford.,” said Anuj Puri, Chairman – ANAROCK Property Consultants.
