Greener Telecom Power: Replus Engitech, Indus Towers Join Hands

The companies will explore Battery Energy Storage System solutions for telecom infrastructure, with Replus planning 1.5 GWh of dedicated BESS production capacity over two years.

Replus Engitech Private Limited, a subsidiary of HEG Advanced Materials Limited (HEGAM), and Indus Towers Limited have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore collaboration on Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) solutions for telecom infrastructure in India.

Under the MoU, Replus intends to make available 1.5 GWh of dedicated BESS production capacity over a two-year period to support the energy requirements of telecom infrastructure. The company also plans to expand its telecom energy storage portfolio, including higher-capacity battery systems, while exploring technologies such as sodium-ion batteries. According to the company, these technologies can support reliability, energy efficiency and lifecycle performance across telecom applications.

Riju Jhunjhunwala, Chairman, Managing Director and CEO, HEG Advanced Materials Limited, said, “This initiative reflects the opportunity we see in building a strong, made-in-India energy storage ecosystem for critical infrastructure. Through Replus, we are building the manufacturing scale, technology capabilities and innovation platform required to address these evolving requirements and contribute meaningfully to India’s energy transition.”

Hiren Pravin Shah, Managing Director & CEO, Replus Engitech Private Limited, said, “For us, this initiative goes beyond supplying batteries. It is about building the manufacturing scale and technology capabilities required to address the evolving energy needs of telecom infrastructure. Our ambition is to combine innovation, reliability and Indian engineering to create future-ready energy storage solutions.”

Replus said the collaboration is part of its efforts to strengthen domestic manufacturing capabilities and advance battery technologies for the energy storage sector. The company said these efforts are aimed at supporting the evolving requirements of India’s telecom sector.

HEG Advanced Materials Limited is a platform focused on advanced battery materials, battery energy solutions and green power. Its capabilities include research, product development and commercialisation, with activities spanning anode materials, including silicon-based anodes, as well as applications across the EV, BESS and energy-storage ecosystem.

Replus Engitech Private Limited is a subsidiary of HEG Advanced Materials Limited and focuses on advanced battery technologies, BESS, telecom energy solutions and e-mobility. The company designs, manufactures and deploys Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC)-based lithium-ion battery systems and provides system integration, EPC, O&M and lifecycle energy asset management services. Replus said it has deployed more than 1 GWh of energy storage capacity across BESS, electric mobility, telecom power solutions and hybrid energy applications in India.
